Belgrade sells its parking system "know-how" to Maribor

Belgrade delegation, led by the City Manager Goran Vesić, transport secreter Dušan Rafailović and managing director of the PUC "Parking servis" Andrija Čupković visited Maribor today, where they presented Belgrade Parking Management System.

Belgrade delegation met Mayor of the Municipality of Maribor Andrej Fištravec, his counselor Igor Kos, Head of the Maribor Municipal Board Bojan Babič  and the representatives of the Traffic Directorate.

Representatives of two cities discussed traffic issues, and PUC "Parking servis" presented its solution to one of the topics - Belgrade Parking Management System via SMS, as the most advanced system for this purpose in Europe.

Andrej Fištravec the Mayor of Maribor explained that  parking payment was still done solely by parking tickets, not engaging any of more contemporary methods by mobile phone. The City has shown interest in our system of control and payment via SMS - used in Belgrade.

Belgrade Parking Management System unites control and service payment, allowing parking companies to manage the process of providing parking services and charging, while providing users option for parking payment via SMS.

– PUC "Parking servis" is ready to sell parking payment software to other cities and thus opens the possibility of exporting it to the European Union. This would enable an additional money income to the city budget - said City Manager Goran Vesić.

PUC "Parking servis" managing director Andrija Čupković pointed out that last year, for the first time since the zone system has been  introduced, parking payment via SMS in Belgrade is done by domestic company that won the tender and developed software.

– Ten years has passed by, since Belgrade zone system introduction and option of parking payment via mobile phone. This is the first time "Parking servis" appears as the owner of the parking control and payment software. Our knowledge and experience, so-called "know-how", will be offeres to municipalities interested in its implementation – said Andrija Čupković.

Transport secreter Dušan Rafailović informed hosts with Secretary's intentions for further parking system development in Belgrade.

– Lot of traffic jam is created while the drivers are actually in search for available parking space. Accordingly Secretary plans to implement system for navigating free parking spaces in the streets and better traffic signalization for reaching the closest garage. We will maintain our good cooperation and try using their experiences and knowledge for implementing navigation system in Belgrade. This will benefit the quality of life in the city and reduce pollution – says Rafailović.
