"PARKING SERVIS" FOR CHILDREN SAFETY IN TRAFFIC

On the 1st October, on International Day of Child, JKP ‘Parking Servis’ has started the campaign for protecting Belgrade schoolchildren in traffic. The campaign’s title is ‘Pupils beg you, slow down when driving by the school’ and it is supported by Belgrade City Traffic Department, City Education Department and Serbia Traffic Police. The campaign is aimed at first graders, their parents and teachers as well as drivers who should take special care of the youngest participants in traffic. At the beginning of September the children choir ‘Carolija’ recorded a video spot for the song ‘Look after our pupils’ in primary school ‘Filip Kljajic Fica’ at Banovo Brdo. Due to the fact that this song has been broadcast at 13 TV and 5 radio stations it has become a huge hit with the pupils. We believe that citizens of a multimillion city as Belgrade, with over 100 000 cars on its streets must realize the importance of fluorescent vests in traffic. At the beginning of each school term there is an increase in the number of traffic accidents. ‘If children get in the habit of wearing fluorescent vest on their way to school and back so that the drivers can notice them promptly, we are convinced that a number of accidents on roads would have been avoided’, says Zivorad Andjelkovic, JKP ‘Parking Servis’ CEO and adds that ‘JKP ‘Parking Servis’ wish is that concern for children in traffic doesn’t stop in November but keeps up throughout a year.’ It has been planed that JKP ‘Parking Servis’ representatives pay visit to 133 schools, and through educational and entertaining programme, present to Belgrade pupils everything they should know about traffic and their participation in it. Belgrade first graders, 14 000 of them, will be given as a present fluorescent protective vests whose size and design is adapted to their age.
