EPA delegation visited “Obilićev venac“ garage
28.01.2020.
President of European Parking Asociation (EPA) Laurence Bannerman, Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesić and President of Serbian Parking Association, Radenko Vuković visited the garage which was nominated for the best renovated garage on EPA Congres in September 2019.
EPA organizes a biannual competition in five categories: new parking structures (garages), renovated parking structure, street parking, innovations and parking marketing. PUC “Parking service” participated in the competition with the renovation and upgrade project of “Obilićev venac” garage. The garage was one of 40 competitors, but the only one outside the European Union. Besides that project, two more garages were in final – renovated parking structures in Belgium (Brussels and Zaventem).
Although the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Belgrade had made study during 2013, which proofed that garage is not stabile and not safe, requesting permanent facility closing, „Parking servis“ decided to start complete reconstruction from the very foundations of the building.
The garage is situated in the heart of Belgrade. During reconstruction, the garage was upgraded with four semi levels, providing 200 new parking lots. “Obilićev venac” garage has solar power plant on the roof, LED lighting with motion detection sensors, chargers for electric vehicles, bicycles parking lots, six different recycle bins, multifunctional performance and exhibitions zone, and free internet for users.
“Obilićev venac” garage received Parksmart certificate in 2018, the award for the only “green garage” in Europe. The garage fulfilled more than 150 standards for the award. There are just 17 such garages in the world.
Laurence Bannerman visited Belgrade with 12 European Parking Association Board members. They participated in Serbian Parking Association Board meeting, on Monday 27th of January 2020. EPA delegation visited congress center in Belgrade, place where General Assembly of European Parking Association will be held in September 2020.
