How the owners of the new car plates can pay for the parking

11.01.2011.

Owners of the new car plates, which have Latin letters š, č, ć, ž and đ can without any difficulties pay for the parking with an SMS message, said Radenko Vuković, the manager of JKP ‘Parking Servis' Parking Control sector.

‘Owners of the new car plates which have Latin letters š, č, ć, ž and đ can pay for the parking with an SMS and they will get a reply from the operator with the signs which match these letters. So instead of đ they will receive d, instead of š - s, instead of č - c, instead of ž - z', specified Vuković.

According to him, within ten days the problem will be solved together with mobile telephone operators, so that the customer will receive the reply with the original letters.

‘We cannot make people buy new mobiles which have those Latin letters. Those whose keyboards do not have letters š, č, ć, ž and đ will be given instructions how to enter letters. For example instead of š they will enter sl and so on', said Vuković.

He added that since 1st January, when the new plates were launched, ‘Parking Servis' attendants have been checking parking payment, so as to avoid issuing fines to the drivers who have already paid for the service.

As he said, there used to be four tags with the Latin letters š and č, namely Šabac, Čačak, Vršac and Kruševac but there was no confusion. A customer could have enterer in the message ČA or CA.
